What’s My Story?

My great aunts and some great uncles, my grandmother, my mom and several of her cousins , my three older brothers, and my great-great uncle Carl, posing in front of the barn at the Nipomo farm circa 1950.

The picture above is of my great aunts and some great uncles all posing in front of the barn at the farm in Nipomo circa 1953.  My mom and several of her cousins, my three older brothers, and my great-great uncle Carl are also in the picture.

I was a very fortunate child that was exposed to many places and local adventures with my family.  With strong family roots on the Central Coast, I have never strayed too far.  My travels have always brought me home to this amazing place.  Blessed to be from here and proud to share this magical place with my friends and clients.

Hanging out with my brothers and my cousins.

What’s My Story?

When I reflect on my early childhood, it warms my heart.

I am lucky enough to have spent my childhood in San Luis Obispo.  I would play in the sand of Pismo Beach while my grandmother and brother Gary fished at the end of the pier.  Two of my great aunts married farmers and settled on the Central Coast, a dairy in Arroyo Grande and what is now a citrus farm in Nipomo.  The Nipomo ranch, established in the 1920s, is still a producing farm.  Two great uncles and a great aunt worked from William Randolph Hearst at his home – Hearst Castle. My only uncle worked for Alex Madonna at his hardware store in downtown San Luis Obispo. I have fond memories of clamming with my grandpa in Pismo Beach in the wee hours of the morning. Camping every summer since I was two months old in a camp located amongst the oaks with a creek perfect for catching salamanders – this area is now where Lopez Lake is located.

I'm the infant in my great-aunt Opal's arms. Next to her is my mother. The kid shading his eyes is my brother, Gary. I have two more brothers in the mix. The rest of the kids are foster children of Aunt Opal's. Camping was how we vacationed with that many kids! We traveled at night to avoid squabbles - so I'm told.
